Through My Lens: D'Angelo Connell's Photography Chronicles

Hello readers! I'm thrilled to have this chance to give you a glimpse into my world. I'm D’Angelo Connell, or DC for short, and I proudly wear the hat of the CEO at D’Angelo Connell Photography. As a Memphis native, my journey into the realm of photography kicked off in August 2019. I'm stoked to share my experiences, the incredible people and organizations I've had the pleasure of working with, the hurdles I've faced, and the valuable lessons that have shaped me along the way.

From collaborating with the Memphis Symphony Orchestra, University of Memphis, Sen London Lamar, Shelby County Government, City of Memphis, to working with Fashion Designer Prep Curry and Arrow Creative, Memphis Health & Fitness Magazine – my photography journey has been nothing short of a thrilling adventure. Each project reflects not just my skills but also the diversity of the experiences I've had as a photographer.

Navigating the Landscape

Starting out, I had to be strategic. I dug into the resources available, tapping into platforms like Linked In, Google Ads, TikTok Ads, and Meta Ads. Keeping my content up-to-date was crucial, and networking became my secret weapon. Connecting with like-minded individuals and making the most of the spaces I had access to laid the foundation for my entrepreneurial journey.

Weathering the Storms

Let's get real – entrepreneurship is no walk in the park. Making sales in unpredictable highs and lows, adjusting to the solo grind, juggling multiple roles, and sifting through an avalanche of information to figure out what truly matters – these were my daily battles. And, of course, there was the challenge of breaking into those exclusive rooms where I wanted to be. Navigating these challenges doesn't come with a quick fix. However, it's crucial to understand that despite the complexities, there exists a pathway to realizing your aspirations. Your unwavering commitment to addressing and overcoming these obstacles is the key. Rather than allowing difficulties to become excuses for surrendering your dreams, channel that energy into finding solutions. By doing so, you're investing in your own journey instead of contributing to someone else's dreams through surrender.

The Power of Support and Relationships

One lesson that hit home for me was the absolute necessity of support. It turns out, asking for help – even from strangers – can be a game-changer. Building relationships became my anchor, proving to be the driving force behind any significant entrepreneurial endeavor. You don't have to go out of your way; many of these individuals share the same spaces as you. The key is to be intentional about connecting with peers who share your level of dedication. Align yourself with those who hustle as hard as you do for your craft, avoiding partnerships with those who don't match your commitment and effort in their pursuits. It's about fostering connections within your existing spheres, ensuring that your alliances are mutually beneficial and driven by a shared work ethic.

Closing

So, that's a snapshot of my journey with D’Angelo Connell Photography. It's a rollercoaster, for sure, but one that's shaping me into the entrepreneur I aspire to be. From challenges to connections, it's all part of the ride. Stick around for more chapters in the ongoing saga of DCP – there's plenty more to come!
